On Monday, July 10, 2006 Kayak launched our first ever tv ads.

Our goal was to be funny, and controversial. We wanted to take some risks, we knew some people would be offended. The response has been huge with overall positive comments.

But we also get flame mails; here are some of my favorites:

1. Your ads suck. Go fuck yourselves you dumbshits.

2. You people must be the most stupid bunch of idiots ever funded. You make Pets.com and Webvan look like good ideas. Let's piss off every woman with breast implants, 62,000,000 people who voted for Cheney, the 59,000,000 that voted for Kerry every person with a hunting license, the oil industry and the State of Alaska which makes a fortune from oil exploration. Etc., Etc,. Etc. Kayak? More like Shit for Brains, Inc.

3. I saw your ad making fun of Democrats. I found it distasteful. As a Democrat, I am offended. You can count me out as a customers. As you probably know, people who don't like something about a company tell at least nine other people. So if you want to stay in business, you should stick to the facts and not let your political colors show.

4. How inane or stupid are you people with that completely idiotic advertisment about alaska? Your left wing, liberal and uneducated views will cost your company everything. You want to think like that, go ahead, you want your business to suceed, you better keep your political views to yourself. I wont shop here now that I know how you think, no matter how low the prices are. No email address for a response, too afraid my pc will get infected with your warped views.

5. I saw your advertisement ridiculing Gore, Kerry, & Dean. It was the first time I had ever even *heard* of your business. Ironic that you should accuse *Democrats* of trying to buy themselves into the Whitehouse, when the GOP is obviously the party of big money & only caters to corporations & the wealthy. I guess you retards either assume the entire US votes "red" or you are doing so well that you can do without the business of at least half the country. Even though you clearly must have alienated a considerable number of viewers, I am sure you couldn't care less as you must believe that there are enough idiots out there who will gladly give you their money just for that add alone.

6. just saw your commercial about exploring Alaska Before the Big Oil Companies do! What a bunch of Hypocrites!!! After you did that commercial, did you jump in your Mercedes and burn some GAS on the way home? How about the OIL that lubed your fancy cars engine? Oh Yeh! What about the transmission fluid that lubed your drive train???? OR! Did you ride a HORSE to work? Oh NO! What about the methane gas they produce? OH NO! Another HOLE in the atmosphere! Whoever came up with that commercial and those that laughed and approved it should be fired! Guess What? I'm just one voice! However, I'll NEVER, NEVER vist your website again!!! JERKS!!!!!!!

7. Look you Communist - Fascist - Bed-wetting A Holes, The Add you used regarding the Oil Companies is proof of the Bull_hit Liberal Attitude you possess, and I do not appreciate it, "You at kayak of course with your feeble minded and jack- as_ attitudes don't even consider the fact that you drive a car and use other forms of transportation that rely on Fossil fuels even as you tout your hypocrisy, and furthermore, why don't you put your money or even a small effort through advertising into finding a better source of energy rather than slam the Oil Companies with what you feel is cute or will promote your Fascist Bulls_it attitude to the masses who in turn are obviously liberals themselves if they like the add, placing them at the bottom of the food chain with You. Well then you have successfully shown Us now haven't You! NO!, your ignorance as expressed through the blog-like TV commercial add, seems meant to further profits by proxy of the narrow- minded and ignorant, those of your own kind. Have fun wallowing in the cesspool of the Fascist Liberals.

8. Your ad on Dean, Gore and Kerry is disgusting. Making sport of their inablility to buy their way to the White House-- the way the current reprehensible resident did is inappropriate. The demise of our formerly great country is not humorous.

9. Just to let you know. I will NEVER use kayak.com after seeing your commercial regarding Alaska. I will also encourage my email list (currently over 200,000) to never use your site also. I was the coalition coordinator for the Southwestern Oregon Republican party in 04 and the veterans coalition coordinator for the state of Oregon. After seeing your Enviro-Nazi Alaskan commercial, I was convinced of your ultra left agenda and will encourage everyone that I know to not only not use your site, but to encourage everyone they know to avoid you. If all works as projected, that relates to millions. If you would like to discuss this then PLEASE feel free to contact me.

10. saw one of your ads tonight for the first time on tv. This ad showed the heads of people that were presidents of the United States of America. Your ad then spoke of them spending money to get to Washington, and not getting there. Then your ad said that they did not get to Washington but by going to your web site I would get to Washington. Not only did I not find this funny, but I find it in the worst of taste. I will be your worst nightmare. I am going to tell everyone that I know about this ad and what you protrayed. I will put this on the web and explain what you did. The studies show that if you have a happy customer he will tell a few people about it, but if you have a bad experence you will tell everyone you know. This is one of the worst things that I have seen lately, so just think how much energy I am going to put into this.

11. You are a bunch of bunny humpping, tree hugging, leaf licking, mother fucking, greenie bastards! What the fuck kind of comercial is that?! "explore Alaska before the oil companies do" FUCK YOU ALL! LICK MY SWEATY BALLSACK!

12. I was very offended by your ad that marginalized global warming and suggested that the viewer could visit the White House but that Gore, Dean, and Kerry couldn't. I have sent a copy of the ad to all my friends and have urged them to NEVER use your site. Kayak is obviously in league with Satan and I shall pray for the souls of all of you and your ad agency.

13. This is the only company I have ever seen that openly expresses the flaming liberal views of its employees. You are nothing more than a group of extreme environmentalists out to make a buck. I would love to hear your side of the story.

23. I am a democrat and I think your commercial about Kerry, Gore and Dean is very tasteless. I vacation once a year and usually book through an online service. I will never use your service and will discourage every one I know not to use your service. I doubt once the word is out on websites like buy blue and other progressive websites if any liberal or democrat would use your service.

I guess I underestimated how polarized we are as a country, and how intolerant and rude some people are when they see other viewpoints.
