Haiti Donations |
I have been lucky enough to be able to donate money to a lot of charities over the years.
Partners in Health (PIH) is one of the best charities I have ever met.
Please consider including them in your charity portfolio, for the following reasons:
- Efficiency. PIH can deliver health care in rural Haiti for about 1000% less cost than similar care in the USA. For this reason, I think it should be part of your charity portfolio.
- Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, ignored by the wealthy world. Even small donations can make an enormous difference.
- Research. Because rural Haiti suffers from the "Global ATM"-- AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria-- work that PIH does in Haiti benefits the rest of the third world in work towards eradication of these diseases.
For an example, here are some of the costs of various programs at PIH in rural Haiti:
- $300: school tuition, books and uniform for one child for one year.
- $1500-2000: materials & labor for a two room house including a concrete floor, stone and plaster walls, a tin roof, and a rain collector.
- $6000-9000: a permanent spring-fed fresh water supply system which can support a village of 1,000 people.
- $30K-100K: a medical clinic which can service 200-500 people a day, people who would otherwise have no care available for treatable diseases.
Please visit PIH Donation Page for more information.
If you would be interested in possibly investing and/or fundraising a large amount of money, I would be glad to escort you to Haiti for an informational visit which you will never forget.
